Lea Salonga on viral video: 'I have boundaries'

 ABOUT POST

Award-winning singer and Broadway star Lea Salonga reacted to the viral video that showed her handling a group of fans who unexpectedly showed up in her dressing room after her Broadway performance in "Here Lies Love."

"Just a reminder... I have boundaries. Do not cross them. Thank you," the Tony and Laurence Olivier Award recipient posted on Twitter on Monday, July 17.

The tweet was her response to a viral video that social media user Cristopher Retokelly Carpila posted on Facebook on July 15. The video had almost 2 million views.

"When one of our lead producers and our dance captain saw the video and learned about what happened, they said, 'You were still very nice, if that were me I would've cussed at them and kicked them out.' I'm not the type to cuss people out, but I will protect my territory and my boundaries. If I lose fans as a result, so be it."

In the 2-minute video, Carpila and his group showed up at Salonga's dressing room to ask for a photo.

"Unless you're on the guest list, we cannot have you back here. You'll have to go the door. I'm sorry. If I allow this now, then other people are gonna take advantage," Salonga could be seen politely telling the group as she turned down their request.

Salonga escorted the group out of the dressing room and by the end of the video, she was seen ready to take a photo near the edge of the venue.
