Shepherd killed in tiger attack near Bandhavgarh National Park in MP's Umaria district

BHOPAL: An elderly shepherd lost his life to a tiger attack on Thursday near Bandhavgarh National Park in Umaria district on Thursday. The deceased has been identified as Sukhdev Prasad Rai 77 and the incident occurred around 3 pm in the Dhamokhar buffer zone.

He had ventured into the reserve to graze his cattle in Dongrihar when the tiger struck, inflicting fatal injuries. The gruesome attack left tiger teeth and claw marks on his neck, left hand, and forehead.


The authorities at Bandhavgarh Tiger Reserve acted upon receiving the information and dispatched a team to the location. The team began investigating the incident to understand the circumstances surrounding the event.

Officials confirmed that the tiger attack had resulted in Sukhdev's death. He further assured that a thorough investigation is ongoing to gain insights into the incident and prevent similar occurrences in the future. The authorities have increased patrolling efforts throughout the entire area to enhance safety and minimize the risk of further encounters with wild animals.
